Happy Earth Day! Today, I checked out the art installation for
Value Village by
Electric Coffin on Alki Beach in West Seattle. The juxtaposition of the clothing landfill against the natural beauty of the beach is such a jarring yet necessary reminder for us to buy less clothing and donate more.
I visited the
Electric Coffin art studio in South Seattle earlier in the week as they were putting together the concept, and was able to contribute a piece to the installation.
Over the years, I've definitely bought less fast fashion and am becoming more aware of textile waste, especially after watching
The True Cost, a documentary tracing the ramifications of clothing on our environment and labor force. Thank you to
Value Village for reminding us to #RethinkReuse!

Wow! I love this art installation, so true. I always try to donate items or pass them on when I am done with them. Also have learned that quality over quantity is best when it comes to fashion.

Wow this is powerful, I generally buy second hand and always donate or sell my clothes so they get a second home. and am trying to switch over to Ethical fashion but it's not the easierst, worth it though <3

I used to buy clothes in bulk because i thought it's way cheaper but ended up not getting value for what i paid. Some i never get to use and when it cleaning time, i have to throw them away bec their cheap and can no longer use 😣 this is a great reminder for us to be a smart buyer 😉
