One of my favorite trends this season is embellished sleeves! Be it bell sleeves (like on the floral dress I wore here), lace-up sleeves (on the ChloƩ silk blouse I wore here), or ruffle sleeves, I love them all. A little flare spices up a classic top and just makes it more fun.
I wore this outfit during a busy day exploring London a couple weekends ago. Whenever I travel, I always pack a pair of sleek sneakers because we like to traverse by foot (in London, we walked over 8 miles a day!), and with the athleisure trend, sneakers can also be worn to make dressier looks more casual. This ruffle sleeve top is in a cozy sweatshirt material, so this time I paired it with distressed jeans for a chill vibe. Next time I think I'll switch it up and wear the top tucked into high-waisted pants.
Anyway, you can see all of my London posts here!
I'm headed to Washington, DC this week. I'd love your recommendations -- please leave them in the comments section below!

The flared sleeve trend has to be one of my current favourites and you rocked it especially with this top. I love the angles in these pictures and the locations too.

I'm obsessed with this ruffled sleeve trend! I love how feminine and casual it can be at the same time... so chic! <3

Kramerbooks for dinner, Busboys and Poets for any meal (doesn't take reservations), Keren if you want to try the Ethiopian food DC is known for (may involve waiting in line at peak times), the cheesecake cupcakes at Georgetown Cupcakes, Astro Donuts, paddleboarding on the Potomac, the east wing of the National Gallery (connected to the west building by the most dazzling tunnel, it's free like all the Smithsonians and is an amazing space with great light - I shoot portraits there, so I assume it would be great for outfit posts), and the sunset from anywhere (DC is such a short city that most buildings have great views).
ReplyDeleteThe most beautiful sight in DC can be appreciated on any nice, non-rainy/non-overcast day: sitting/picnicking on the grass just to the east of the Washington Monument at dusk. Watching the sun set to the west behind the monument, all 50 American flags fluttering in the breeze, is the most gorgeous tribute to our nation and the loveliest version of truly feeling what it means to be American.
Ah I forgot to mention - this involves a lot of effort and waiting in many lines, because it's free but requires tickets - but the Infinity Mirrors exhibit at the Hirshhorn is really photogenic, which as a blogger I assume you may be interested in!
DeleteWowww thank you!! This is so detailed - I really appreciate your thoughtfulness! I definitely want to watch the sunset where you suggested... the way you described it makes it seem even more beautiful. Thank you again!
DeleteI'm just as into this trend as you are! Love the pairing with the ripped denim jeans because it adds an edgy vibe to the entire outfit.

The idea of this trend is so cool, but how do you manage to keep those ruffled sleeves clean lol
ReplyDeletehaha It is pretty ridiculous to have to keep track of dramatic sleeves, but I just roll them up and so far haven't dragged them through food or anything yet!
