Weekend Getaway @ Alderbrook Resort & Spa

Last weekend, Husband and I were invited to Alderbrook Resort & Spa, and we had the best time relaxing! We drove about 1.5 hours out of Seattle, which is just far enough to feel like a getaway without being too tiring of a drive.

Alderbrook is located in the Hood Canal, meaning there is an abundance of gorgeous scenery and fresh seafood. The resort is stunning and quintessentially Pacific Northwest, surrounded by water and nestled in Evergreen trees. I felt so rejuvenated retreating to nature and am thankful to live in beautiful Washington.

Here was our weekend itinerary:

Day 1
We arrived at Alderbrook mid-morning, and after checking in, we headed straight to the restaurant for breakfast. First things first, Husband ordered coffee and I had a hot apple cider with a side of freshly-made pumpkin bread and honey butter. Since we were in the Hood Canal, which is known for seafood, I ordered a shrimp and crab omelet and Husband had the Dungeness crab eggs Benedict.

After breakfast, we explored the resort, which, while spacious, still felt charmingly quaint. Since we were there during December, the resort was decked out in Christmas decorations and festive lights, which made me so happy! There were complimentary Santa photos in the lobby and holiday activities during the day.

At night, we had dinner at the on-site restaurant that overlooks the water. We started with local oysters and cocktails, then Husband had clams fettuccini and I had scallops for our main. We finished off with a spiced pear galette. Happily full, we watched Elf before falling into a restful sleep from a fun and relaxing first day.

Day 2
We woke up leisurely the next day, and after breakfast, we went for a light hike on a nearby trail that overlooks the property and surrounding mountains. Being outdoors is so refreshing -- it was exactly what I've been needing.

After the hike, we got into robes and headed to our couple's massage at the spa. If I wasn't already fully in zen, I was definitely there post-massage! Husband loooves the spa (anyone else's guy like this too??), and I think the massage was probably his favorite part of the trip! I took advantage of the huge tub in our room and further melted into relaxation with a hot bath to cap off the day.

A huge thank you to Alderbrook Resort & Spa for having us for the weekend! If you're in Washington, or thinking of visiting the state, I totally recommend booking a trip. Alderbrook offers the perfect PNW getaway experience, especially with Valentine's Day coming up!
